AMG SUBSIDIARY GRAPHIT KROPFMÜHL AG ANNOUNCES OPENING OF GRAPHITE MINE

Amsterdam, 21 June 2012 AMG Advanced Metallurgical Group N.V.’s (« AMG », EURONEXT AMSTERDAM: « AMG ») subsidiary, Graphit Kropfmühl AG, Hauzenberg, Germany (« GK ») announces that its graphite mine in Kropfmühl, Germany has reopened.  Graphite mining in Kropfmühl has become feasible due to increasing demand for high purity natural graphite and global price developments.

GK processes over 25,000 tons of natural graphite per annum.  This graphite originates from GK’s mines in Africa and Asia as well as from market sources.  GK intends to extract 300 tons of graphite from the Kropfmühl mine in 2012, ramping up to approximately 1,300 tons in 2013.  Securing resources through the company’s own raw materials deposits is a central goal in GK’s corporate strategy.  GK is developing additional graphite deposits to increase its own raw material supply, including ongoing exploration projects in Mozambique.

GK provides high purity natural graphite to the global market.   Utilizing its 140 years of experience, GK is developing additional applications for high purity natural graphite such as for energy saving insulation materials and batteries for the electric car.
