AMG acquires additional shares in Graphit Kropfmühl AG

AMG owns 88,0% of Graphit Kropfmühl AG

Amsterdam, 22 December 2010 (Regulated Information) AMG Advanced Metallurgical Group N.V. (“AMG,” EURONEXT AMSTERDAM: “AMG” or the “Company”) has acquired an additional 8,5% of Graphit Kropfmühl AG’s (“GK”) common shares from a block of institutional investors in exchange for 2,1% of AMG’s common shares.  The Company issued the AMG shares in connection with the purchase of the GK shares.  The acquisition of the GK shares raises AMG’s ownership in GK to 88,0% and it is consistent with AMG’s goal to simplify its corporate structure.

GK is a majority controlled, publicly listed subsidiary of AMG.  Based on its secure raw material sources in Africa, China and Europe, GK is a specialist in the production of silicon metal and the extraction, processing and refining of natural crystalline graphite for a wide range of energy saving industrial applications.

Graphit Kropfmühl AG is a majority controlled, publicly listed subsidiary of AMG.  Based on its secure raw material sources in Africa, China and Europe, Graphit Kropfmühl is a specialist in the production of silicon metal and the extraction, processing and refining of natural crystalline graphite for a wide range of energy saving industrial applications. 

Timminco Limited is a publicly listed affiliate of AMG. Timminco produces silicon metal for the chemical, aluminum, electronic and solar industries.  Timminco also produces solar grade silicon, using its proprietary technology for purifying silicon metal, for the solar energy industry.
